Windsteel Caverns

Level Layout

The level layout of Windsteel Caverns features many pathing tricks and floating islands, as well as various hidden objects and enemies scattered throughout the levels. This game features 3 fully unique levels with a separate boss in each one.

Puzzles & Story

Throughout the 3 levels in Windsteel Caverns, you will encounter a rather odd Shadow which will inquire you with completing various tasks in order to appease him, later it is revealed that he wants to help the player and defeat the evil lurking deep within the cavern.

As well as the Shadow, there are other quests such as aiding the fairy in each level to help unlock a secret chest hidden inside the level.

After each boss is defeated the player unlocks more to the story as well as a cutscene after the 3rd boss is weak enough to be sealed away.

Enemy AI

Each level features a fully diverse set of monsters including a customized boss encounter for each floor. The first boss is a Ghost Knight capable of sprinting towards the player after taking damage as well as becoming immune to interruption during this time.

The second level includes the Colossus Bat which can fly over gaps in the floor leading down to the abyss, she has 3 phases which include increasing her speed & attack, then spawning baby bats which track back and forth along the path and can easily group up against the player, the 3rd phase includes moving much faster and attacking twice if the player tries to attack her from the front.

The third level showcases the Scarab Queen, with 3 increasingly difficult phases her first phase includes attacking the player with 3 unique attacks and walking along her path, her second phase includes spawning 4 scarab eggs which when jumped on spawns Scarab Sentinels to aid her in her fight. She can now summon 4 bolts of lightning randomly inside her arena every 5 to 10 seconds. The third phase increases her size, damage, movement speed & ups the lightning attacks to 8, she then summons 4 scarab eggs every 10 seconds until she gets to 15% health, at which point the Shadow deems her weak enough to seal her away before she can destroy the path to the lower floors.
